Network Sponsor Caring Services of Western New York, Inc. Announces New Division of Services - Transportation

Caring Services of Western New York, Inc. of Tonawanda, NY is a non-medical, fee-for-service provider. It provides an extensive non-medical service program for seniors under its division - Home Management Services. It offers community dwelling older adults with declining functional abilities the opportunity to continue living at home. Clients receive a customized service plan catering to their specific needs. Services may include, but are not limited to, housekeeping, shopping, errands, laundry, meal preparation, companion care, home maintenance, installation of grab bars and handrails, courtesy transportation. Also, Caring Services is an authorized installer for Lifeline Alert Call Personal Response Systems.

The creation of a new division - Caring Services of WNY- Transportation will provide seniors an alternative means of transportation for medical, dental and social appointments or recreational activities. These services are available for both, ambulatory and wheelchair users from 6 AM to 10 PM, seven days a week. Also, "Rehab Discharge Service" is available for those who need transportation to home from rehabilitation units. This transportation service is "door to door". Our staff will go to the room to retrieve and transport the rehab recipient and their belongings to home. Our service includes making sure the client is situated at home with groceries, hot lunch, etc. If needed, staff will stay with the client from two hours to three days until other programs are initiated and stabilized.

Research indicates that second to health, transportation is an important issue for seniors. Currently, one of eight older adults is age 85 and over, the fastest growing segment of our population. Many seniors link driving to freedom and independence yet those over the age of 75 with poor health and disability status are often homebound. This suggests personal mobility decreases as one age increases. Caring Services - Transportation provides non-driving seniors an opportunity to go where they want, when they want.

For more information about these services, call Caring Services of WNY, Inc.; 716-693-7510.
