New Univera Medicare Plans to be Announced in October

That is when the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) allow Medicare Advantage plans to release information about plans for the following year.
Currently, the Annual Election Period for persons eligible for Medicare to change their current insurance plan for the following year is from November 15th through December 31st. Plan choices made during this time go into effect on January 1, 2008. Open Enrollment takes place January 1 through March 31, 2008. During this time, an individual may make one additional change in Medicare Advantage coverage-restrictions may apply.

April 1, 2008 is the current Medicare "lock-in" date. After this date, individuals already enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan may not make any further changes until the next Annual Election Period.

Medicare Supplemental plans, also known as "Medigap" policies, may be purchased at any time. They work with Medicare Part A and Part B to fill in the coverage "gaps" left by having only original Medicare.
