Cancer Wellness Center Cancer Coaches - The Cancer Wellness Center offers volunteer cancer survivors to help you deal with the circumstances you are facing. The cancer coach can help newly diagnosed patients face their situation with knowledge, strength and courage. Receiving a cancer diagnosis is a worrisome time but who can better help you than someone who has walked in your shoes. For more information please call 873-0905.

Caregiver Support Group (893-3000 ext. 102) - Peregrine's Landing Senior Community and the Alzheimer's Association of WNY hold a support group for caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer's Disease and other related dementias. The group meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 4:30 p.m. at Peregrine's Landing, 575 Cayuga Creek Rd., Cheektowaga. There is no fee to attend the group.

Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group Forming Peregrine's Landing Senior Community, located at 575 Cayuga Creek Rd., Cheektowaga, NY is forming a new caregiver's support group for caregiver's of individuals with Alzheimer's disease and other related dementias in conjunction with the Alzheimer's Association of Western New York. The support group will be meeting the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 4:30 in the afternoon. The next meeting will be held on March 8, 2005. Peregrine's Landing's secured memory care unit offers caregivers the ability to bring their loved one to the support group if it is convenient. The support group will meet at Peregrine's Landing Senior Community, located at 575 Cayuga Creek Rd, Cheektowaga, NY 14227. Please call today to confirm your attendance at (716)893-3000 ext 102. Visually Challenged (636-3055, ext. 130) - contact Deborah Zimmerman. Meets twice a month on Tuesday mornings at the Amherst Center for Senior Services, 370 Audubon Parkway in Amherst and facilited by Eli Ellis from the Elizabeth Olmsted Center for the Visually Challenged.

 

Widowed Persons Support Group (836-6460) - this group meets for limited weekly sessions in the fall and spring at Life Transitions Center, 3580 Harlem Road, Cheektowaga. Group tims may vary. Cost is $70.

 

Young Widowed Persons Group (836-6460) - participants must be 50 years of age or younger, or have children under the age of 18 years. The group meets for 8 consecutive weeks from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at the Life Transitions Center, 3580 Harlem Rd., Cheektowaga, NY.
